This document evaluates the biological and economic consequences of juvenile spacing within lodgepole pine stands on Tree Farm License 15 in British Columbia. This study uses modeling to compare various thinning densities against unspaced stands to determine their long-term effects on timber yield, wood quality, and financial viability. The findings indicate that while spacing produces larger individual tree diameters, it often results in increased taper and larger knots, which can ultimately reduce the recovery of high-value lumber and diminish total stand value. Furthermore, the analysis suggests that maintaining higher natural densities may provide a necessary buffer against forest health risks and pests, leading to the conclusion that spacing is generally not a financially sound investment for this specific management unit.
